Stem Cell Therapy
Stem Cell Therapy is a medical procedure used in regenerative medicine to help treat multiple conditions and diseases as well as provide healing for injuries. Stem cell therapy triggers our body's natural healing process by using adult stem cells in one's own body. Stem cells help other diseased or damaged cells to regenerate new tissue offering an alternative to invasive surgeries and a short recovery time.
Stem cell therapy at our Regenerative Medicine Center in NYC and NJ is targeted to promote healing in patients with orthopedic conditions.
What are Adult Stem Cells?
Adult stem cells are cells found in tissue and organs of the body that have the ability to renew themselves. The role of adult stem cells is to maintain and repair their surrounding tissue.
Autologous (your own) adult stem cells are used in regenerative medicine to treat patients with chronic pain and tissue degeneration. At The Regenerative Medicine Center, our doctors use your own bone marrow concentrate to treat orthopedic conditions affecting the shoulder, knee, hip, spine, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Are You a Candidate for Stem Cell Therapy?
At The Regenerative Medicine Center, our doctors will have a consultation with you to review your medical condition/s and determine if you are a good candidate for stem cell therapy. Your consultation may include diagnostic testing to ensure that stem cell therapy is an appropriate treatment option for you. Stem cell therapy is often a good treatment for patients who:
- Would like to avoid invasive surgery
- Would like to avoid extended healing times
- Are in chronic pain due to an orthopedic condition, aging or injury
Stem Cell Procedure
Once our doctors determine you are a good candidate for stem cell therapy, they will provide you with a full overview of the procedure and what to expect. Every patient is different so your consultation with the doctor before and after the procedure is vital.
- Stem cells are extracted in the office from the targeted area on the patient.
- Extracted cells are concentrated by spinning and injected back into the body part being targeted for healing in the office.
- The procedure is a relatively fast procedure, taking about 45 minutes to 1 hour in total and healing time depends on the area being treated.
After the procedure, our staff will give you time to rest in our recovery room for a short period of time. Your doctor will develop a personalized rehabilitation plan for after stem cell treatment and let you know how soon you will need to follow up.
Potential Conditions Treated:
SPINE: BACK & NECK CONDITIONS
The spine is made up of many parts that work together to provide mobility of the body. Back and neck injuries affect the spine and can cause pain and limit mobility. Spine conditions treated with stem cell therapy include:- chronic back pain
- arthritis of the back or neck
- degenerative disc disease
- herniated discs / slipped discs
- SHOULDER
The shoulder is a common targeted area for stem cell therapy. Shoulder injuries can result from overuse, sports, work accidents and degeneration. Shoulder conditions treated with stem cell therapy include:
- rotator cuff tears
- labral tears
- shoulder arthritis
- KNEE
The knee is one of the most common joints susceptible to injury and degeneration. Knee pain can strictly prohibit your mobility and affect your quality of life. Common knee conditions treated with stem cell therapy include:- meniscus tears
- ACL & PCL tears
- ligament injuries
- arthritis of the knee
- FOOT, ANKLE & HIP
Foot, ankle and hip conditions and injuries are also very common. We are constantly putting strain on these important parts resulting in pain and injury. Common foot, ankle and hip conditions treated with stem cell therapy include:- tendon inflammation
- arthritis of the foot, ankle or hip
- muscle strains
- muscle sprains
- labral tears
- cartilage issues
