Chronic Pain Vs. Sleep Patterns
After a busy day at work, everyone looks forward to being able to come home, relax and get a good night's sleep. Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to get a sufficient amount of sleep. The 2015 Sleep in America poll by the National Sleep Foundation has found that approximately 21% of Americans suffering from chronic pain receive fewer than necessary hours of sleep.[1]
How Does Pain Affect Sleep?
Being able to achieve an acceptable amount of rest is extremely difficult for someone who suffers from a condition leading to chronic pain. While you may lay in bed for 8 hours, patients with chronic pain most likely have not successfully rested for those full 8 hours and may spend the day feeling groggy and unrefreshed.
What Treatment Options are Available?
You might hear stories of people resorting to sleep aids, painkillers or other steroid injections to relieve the pain. However these are not all your options! For example, if you suffer from knee pain we may be able to treat you with visco-supplementation. Acute Rotator Cuff injury? You may be a candidate for PRP Therapy!
There are many alternatives treatments available to you as a patient at The Regenerative Medicine Center that you might not be otherwise aware of. Despite contrary belief, surgery and painkillers are not your only options and we are here to provide you with much more. Pain relief can be achieved without undergoing a single surgical procedure.
The sooner you choose to receive an evaluation by one of our regenerative medicine specialists, the sooner you can look forward to receiving a good night’s rest! If you feel you may be a good candidate for our alternative treatments, contact us to book an appointment today!
